I'm a Big Boy!

Tonight, as Ryan was getting into the bath, he told me that he needed to "pee-pee." He had his diaper off, and went to sit on his "big boy" potty. He pushed and pushed...until he actually went pee-pee in the potty! He was SO excited! (And, of course, Mommy had to go grab her camera!)

Ryan's version of the Christmas story

Last night, while he was supposed to be eating dinner, Ryan got all of the characters (along with some "extras") out of the manger scene. He brought them all to the table and set them up how he envisions the scene of the birth of Jesus. Obviously he realizes that Mary, Joseph and the rest of the "manger scene crew" were probably VERY hungry...as the focus of the scene is my bowl of vegetable soup (not Baby Jesus...although he's looking on, too). Isn't it cute how creative kids can be? I guess he thinks that their tummies are probably growling from the long trip to Bethlehem!

The scary man in the red suit...

Today my mom and I took Ryan to see Santa at the mall. I have been talking to Ryan for quite some time about what a nice man Santa is. (Last year he was TERRIFIED, so I wanted this year's experience to be a little more pleasant.) I talked to him all day yesterday explaining that we were going to see Santa and that Santa would give him some candy. He was so excited...until we got there! Our pictures this year look a lot like the ones last year. Just a little more hair (on Ryan's head) and a lollipop in his hand! The entire time he was sitting in Santa's lap he was saying, "Mommy, no. Done. Down" over and over! I thought we would get a cute, smiling picture this year. Wrong! Maybe next year...yeah right. Next year we will have Ryan smiling and Drew screaming! Oh well...one day!

31 week appointment

We went in today for our 31 week appointment. They did an ultrasound to check on Drew's heart. (In the 20 week ultrasound they found a spot on his heart.) The tech looked and looked...and couldn't see the spot anymore. Praise God! She did notice two things though. First, Drew is still bottom-down. She said that she will check my fluid levels at my next appointment. She wants to make sure that there's enough fluid to flip him, if needed. The second thing she noticed is that he is already a big baby...weighing in at 3 pounds 15 ounces so far. (He should only be about 3 pounds as of right now.) Due to this, and my fear of birthing a large baby, she said that she will take him before 38 weeks. That would be sometime before January 26th. So, our timeline for preparing just got cut short two weeks! We've got a lot to do around here to get ready to bring home another baby!

Getting ready for Christmas

Tonight Rob got all of the boxes of Christmas decorations out of the attic. Ryan was so excited about opening the boxes and pulling out everything. A lot of decorations were wrapped in newspaper. Ryan would take off the newspaper and say, "Oooooh Mommy, look!" Then he would throw it in the floor and move on to another decoration. Each decoration got more and more exciting to him! At the bottom of one box he found the stockings. He pulled them out and, with much excitement in his voice, said, "Mommy...BIG SOCKS!" He then proceeded to put one of the stockings onto each of his feet and walk around the house. We still haven't hung them up, in fear that he will pull them down to put them on his feet.

The baby has a name!

Ryan has chosen a name for his little brother. He likes the name Drew...so, Drew it is! In fact, if we try to get him to call the baby anything other than Drew, he gets very upset (almost to the point of tears at times). The baby's full name will be Drew Jeffry Nordlander. "Drew" comes from his big brother. "Jeffry" is after his Papa Duck. And "Nordlander", well...do I really need to explain?

It's a Boy!

We went to the doctor and confirmed my suspicions...it's a boy! Ryan has been convinced all along that the baby was a "durl"...so now we have to tell him otherwise. We are really excited to add another little (crazy) boy to the Nordlander family! (I am really getting outnumbered.)
